Fox Sports Radio for Saturday, June 26, 2010 from 8:00 – 11:00 p.m. (ET)
It’s the first of two shows this weekend for Zakk & Jack. We’ll be checking the phones at (877) 99-ONFOX as well as your texts at 66369.
On Saturday’s show…
Our show on Saturday will last 3 hours. Which means you can listen live and then replay the full show at least twice more in the time you could watch the 11 hour and 5 minute marathon tennis match in between John Isner and Nicolas Muhat.
6-4, 3-6, 7-6, 6-7, 70-68 was the final score of the match which included 183 games and 215 aces. Justin Gimelstob joins us live from Wimbledon to recap Saturday’s action.
Landon Donovan’s game-winning goal over Algeria sent the United States to the Round of 16 in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Christopher Sullivan, host of Fox Soccer Channel’s daily World Cup recap show “Ticket to South Africa”, joins us live at 9:30 (ET).
Why did the Spanish soccer announcer sound more excited about Donovan’s goal than most of us heard on the English-speaking broadcast?
Unsure of what your favorite team did during Thursday night’s 2010 NBA Draft? We’ll break it down plus look ahead to the upcoming free agency period featuring LeBron James with Chris Monter of the Monter Draft News.
Fredi Gonzalez was fired this week as manager of the Florida Marlins. In 3 full seasons as their skipper, Gonzalez improved the Marlins total wins each season (from 71 to 84 to 87). The 2010 Marlins have the 5th lowest payroll in MLB and were 34-36 at the time of Gonzalez’s firing.
Are too many coaches and managers fired because expectations are too high or unrealistic?
Phil Jackson is unsure if he’ll return to the Los Angeles Lakers for his 4th shot at an NBA three-peat. This week Jackson said he is ‘leaning toward retirement’ but wasn’t ready to make his decision just yet.
Didn’t Phil already “retire” from coaching after the 2004 season? How many times can athletes (Brett Favre, Roger Clemens, Michael Jordan) use the word in place of admitting they really just want to take some time away? Is it time we “retire” the word “retirement” in sports?
Also tonight’s phone and text polls… What changes would you make to game of soccer or the television broadcast to make it a better spectator sport in America? What coaches (college or professional) were most unjustly fired after “over-achieving” within a franchise or university?
